Security Training Ireland, a division of Archangel Security Agency Ltd, is the dedicated training section to cater for the Irish Standard I.S.999:2004. This standard covers manned guarding services, door supervisors and event security in Ireland.

The Private Security Services Act 2004 and the Private Security Authority are the mechanisms for regulating private security services in Ireland and a licensing system is now in place for the various sectors within the industry. Paul de Cogan MBA M.Sec.I.I is a Certified Security Industry Trainer and is a member of the Security Institute of Ireland. Paul also holds an Honours Degree in Business Administration in Security and Risk Management. He is certified at a Level Three in Air Cargo Security by Manchester Airport and was previously an Air Cargo Security Inspector contractor for the Irish Department of Transport’s Aviation Section.

With over twenty years experience in the areas of Guarding services, Close Protection and Consultancy, Paul’s career has been varied and extensive. He has operated as a consultant to numerous companies and has been the Residential Security Team Leader for the Saudi Royal Family in Europe, and for US and UK corporate clients. Operational experience in Ireland, UK, Europe, the USA and the Mid East has made Paul an invaluable asset to both Archangel Security Agency Ltd, to Security Training Ireland and especially to our clients.

At Security Training Ireland, we offer the following I.S.999:2004 courses:

  • Basic Guarding Skills; the entry level for anyone considering a career in the Manned Guarding profession. This course is certified by the Security Institute of |Ireland and FETAC

  • Door Supervisors Procedures; this course is a requirement for licensing to operate as a Door Supervisor in the Leisure, Event and Licensed Trade sectors. It is certified by the Security Institute of Ireland and by FETAC.

Both of the above courses are part of the criteria for licensing by the Private Security Authority and have been developed by the industry in conjunction with various State Bodies and by the National Standards Authority of Ireland. Future development of standards for other areas of the Irish security sectors is ongoing and updates to the I.S.999:2004 will be featured as they are announced.
